A streetside glimpse of India from Bangalore - no paid news, no lobbying, no plants, no stringing along - just pure viewpoints. My own political education. Satire Alert (At times)!
Because, nothing is permanent, only interim!
Once again, what started off as a comment at Emerging futures lab (or its previous avatars), becomes a post here.
For a lot of people, the only way to exercise their authority is by building walls with guard towers and a list of instructions - policies. Many managers, HR, Finance - a lot of them see their role as such - they are saving their company you see by guarding the walls and the policies.
They never realize that they are there to facilitate the right people to go through, the right exceptions to go through...they will guard their rules since that justifies their own existence. The only people who need to take their roles this seriously are those who guard our borders. Without exception, nobody can be allowed - and even there are exceptions.
How often have you come across people in authority whose existence is only to show a paper with rules justifying why something cannot be done? Are you doing that too? Are you part of the problem or are you part of the solution?
